Myrtle E. Girvalo, a resident of the village of Wappingers Falls passed peacefully from mortal life to eternal life on October 20, 2016. Daughter of the late Charles and Ida(Bell) Broadhead, Myrtle was born March 28, 1920 in Pleasantville, N.Y. She was 96 years young. Myrtle was married to Joseph Girvalo on May 9, 1953, with whom she co-owned O'Tooles in the village of Wappingers Falls. He preceded her in death November 3, 1988Myrtle was a very strong and independent woman with a caring heart for all of those she loved. She held high Reverence for God and Jesus reading from the Bible and Book of Meditation daily. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling and playing Bingo and cards with friends. She liked to read and do crossword puzzles. Myrtle enjoyed watching the Mass and cowboy shows on TV. Myrtle's passion was to knit. Her "Myrt hats" were enjoyed by all who had the pleasure of receiving one, especially the neighborhood children. She is survived by her grandson Charles Morrissey and his wife Michele of New Mexico, great grandchildren, Skylar and Colton Morrissey of New Mexice, and her very dear friend and confidant Victoria A. Kolb of Wappingers Falls. Also left to cherish her memory are nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and caregivers. Special thanks to Stephanie Perry, Office of the aging, Dr. E. Schneider, Khudell Savage, caregiver extraordinaire of Willcare and the Smith family who provided unconditional love, care and friendship. In addition to her husband Joe, she was predeceased by daughters Barbara Ludwig and Gabriella Girvalo. As per Myrtle's wishes, a Memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined at St. Nicholas Church on the Hudson, New Hamburg, N.Y.
