Mary Kilar, 92, of Waterville, NY, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville. She was born February 11, 1920 in Yorkville, a daughter of Frank and Agnes Dicz Kasprzyk. On November 28, 1942, Mary was united in marriage to Frank Kilar in St. Mary’s Church, New York Mills. He predeceased her on July 16, 2000. A resident of Waterville since 1948, she had worked for Sitroux, and Continental Can Co., and later was a housekeeper for several area families. She enjoyed tending her gardens. Mary was a communicant of St. Bernard’s Church in Waterville and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Surviving are her children, Carol and John Crannage of Cortland and Janice Harris and her companion Edward Bishop of Waterville; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Joseph and Jane Kasprzyk, and Phyllis Kasprzyk, all of Yorkville; her grandchildren, John and Michelle Crannage of Cortland; Susan and Gary Sheely of McLean, NY; Kelly and Brad Phoenix of Groton; Arthur Roberts of Oneida’ Jennifer Kelly of Waterville; Krista Rees and Mary Harris both of Pittsburg, PA; great-grandchildren, Helena Roberts, Nichelle Kelly, John Sheely, Jerry Adkins and Davis Rees; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her special friends Lynn and Rick Moore, Ginny Davies and Debbie Paino. She was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Kernan and three brothers, Peter, Valentine and Stanley Kasprzyk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Friday, August 31, 2012 from St. Bernard’s Church, 199 Stafford Ave., Waterville, followed by interment in St. Bernard’s Cemetery In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Bernard’s Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville.
