Ronald Haskett

Mills River — Ronald Roy Haskett, Sr., 75, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2016, following a brief illness. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Joan Haskett; his son, Ronald Haskett, Jr. (Casey) and his wife, Presley; his daughter, Kelly Haskett Taylor and her husband, Warren; three grandchildren, Ronald Haskett, III (Mac), Lyric Taylor, and Ayden Taylor; his brother Jim Middleton; and many relatives and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Roy Haskett and Mae Watson Haskett Middleton, and his stepfather, Alvin Middleton; and his sisters Brenda Buchanan of Sylva and Barbara Wood of Asheville. Born and raised in Jackson County, NC, he met and married his wife and love of his life, Joan Crawford, at Cullowhee High School and they eloped to marry on March 31, 1961. After college, they moved to Brevard in the early 1960’s where he began working for E.I. DuPont in Cedar Mountain. He worked there in various roles for more than 30 years and ultimately retired as an industrial mechanic. Blessed with 20 years of retirement, Mr. Haskett lived an active life of travel, square dancing, and spending time with family. They spent a great deal of time in Kissimmee, FL with many great friends and traveled to middle TN as often as possible to visit his beloved grandchildren. He had a passion for animals and nature, was an avid reader, loved puzzles, and simply enjoyed life to its fullest. He was an active member at Boylston Baptist Church in Mills River, NC, and loved his church family very much. Visitation will be held at Boylston Baptist Church on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 1pm. The funeral service will follow at 2 pm. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boylston Baptist Church Building Fund, 10642 Boylston Hwy, Mills River, NC 28759. Online condolences may be left at www.moodyconnollyfuneralhome.com.
