Doris E. Buzzard Smith, 83 of Ashland passed away Sunday morning, October 9, 2011 in the Hospice House.
She was born April 20, 1928 in Loudonville and was the daughter of Glenn and Velma (nee Young) Manchester. Doris has resided in Ashland County most of her life.
She attended Loudonville High School. Doris married Edward E. Buzzard in 1945 that passed away in 1987.
She was part owner with her husband Edward and secretary of Buckeye Roofing and Heating for many years. Doris also worked at the Star Telephone Company as a switch board operator and the Flxible Company.
Following her husband’s death she married Wayne Smith on October 20, 1991. Doris was a devoted member of the First Christian Church where she was on the Bereavement Committee and on the Deaconate Committee for many years, and participated in the newsletters until June of this year. As well as being a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Doris enjoyed crocheting, traveling, boating with her family, and keeping up with family events.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Mike) Moffett of Ashland; two sons, Larry E. Buzzard of Ashland and Thomas E. Buzzard of Polk; three grandchildren, Michael and Justin Moffett, and Abigail Buzzard; her second husband, Wayne Smith of Ashland; a step son, Mark (Tina) Smith of Ashland; a step daughter, Lynn (Calvin) Keefer of Ashland; 6 step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Wilbur (Evelyn) Manchester of Loudonville and Ronald (Helen) Manchester of Loudonville.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Doris is preceded in death by a son, Richard E. Buzzard who passed away, December 19, 2002.
In keeping with Doris’ wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home.
