Eric Richard Evans, 45 Eric Richard Evans, 45, of Lewis Center, formerly of Ashland passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 in Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville. He was born November 25, 1970 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to Richard Weller and Linda (nee Whyel) Evans. Eric graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1989. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree of Education from the Ohio State University graduating with honors, summa cum laude. He proudly served as a medic in the United States Army during the Gulf War. Later Eric went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Eric married the former Keiko Higuchi in July of 1993. He was employed at Triple T Transport as a logistic coordinator, and previously at Conway Trucking. Eric was a brilliant man, always putting the ones around him first. He had a great love for the Lord. Eric loved to laugh and he had a laughter that was infectious to all around him. He loved to read and played the guitar with others. He is survived by his wife, Keiko Higuchi-Evans of Lewis Center; two sons, Derek “Sho” Higuchi-Evans and Kenya Luke Evans, both of Lewis Center; his mother, Linda Sue Collins of Ashland; his father, Richard Evans of Pennsylvania; his maternal grandmother, Betty Jane Trexler of Lehigh Acres, Florida, a sister, Angie (Nicholas) Mucci of Murrysville, Pennsylvania; a step brother, Dane Allen Amend of Ashland; and a nephew, Parker Amend of Middletown. Eric is preceded in death by his step father and mentor, Allen Douglas Amend; his maternal grandfather, Royden Tyger; and his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and June Evans. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Sexton officiating. The Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Interment will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to No Pawz Left Behind, 1130 East Main Street, Suite 116, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
