Eileen J. (Herrington) Mundy, beloved mother and grandmother, went into the arms of her precious savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 20, 2016, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She went sweetly and peacefully and we find comfort in the knowledge that she is now home. She was cherished and will be dearly missed. Preceded in death by her husband, Lyndell L. Mundy, her parents, Muriel and Sherman Herrington, sisters, Ellen and Sarah, and brother, Sherman. She is survived by her children, Herschel Mundy, Roxanne (Curt) Hill, Vanessa (Greg) Spicer, Samuel Mundy; grandchildren: Justin Mundy, Kimberly (Cameron) Byrd, Emerson (Brittany) Hill, Robert Livingston, Kaite (Nathan) Morgan, Bret Livingston, Nate Spicer and Emily Spicer. She will also be missed by her siblings, Jim, Nathan, Micki Chestnut and Katherine Jensen along with many loving nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and friends. Eileen grew up in Johnsonville, New York. After high school, she proudly served in the Air Force where she met and married her husband of 38 years. Upon Lyndell’s military service retirement, they settled in Riverside, Ohio, where they raised their family. Over the years, many children found refuge in her home. Her nurturing, selfless care for the needs of others was always paramount to anything else in her life. She enjoyed spending time with family and if you came into her home, you were family. Her laughter will sing in our hearts until the day we can be with her again. Family will receive friends at Baker, Hazel & Snider Funeral Home, 5555 Philadelphia Drive, Dayton on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, from 5 – 7:00 pm with services immediately following. Eileen will be laid to rest at the Dayton National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in memoriam to the Appalachian Children’s Home, www.achky.org.
