Services for Edith Irene Scharsu, 93, of Mentor, will be at 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Pastor Brian Landrum of Mentor Baptist Church will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 AM on Saturday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

She resided at Golden Living Center – Western Reserve in Kirtland for the past 16 months. Mrs. Scharsu went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 13, 2016.

Born July 17, 1923 in Drill, VA, she lived in Mentor for the past 43 years.

She was an active member of Mentor Baptist Church and will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and homemaker who loved her little dogs, but most especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors are her husband of 56 years, Bernard “Bernie” Scharsu; daughters, Lisa (Randy) Horst and Lynn (John) Marics; step-daughter, Kathy (George) Denkowski; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her children, Benny and Delores; her parents, James and Bertha (Sykes) Jackson and her sister, Verna Cooper.

Private interment will be in Knollwood Cemetery.
