Loretta Hill Obituary

A Celebration of Life service for Loretta E. (Roach) Hill, age 87 years, of Enid, is 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Vernon Lee will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Loretta was born January 25, 1930 in Jackson County, Oklahoma, to Jowett Emsley (Jack) Roach and Lucille (Jones) Roach, and passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Enid. She grew up in the Warren area, attending school in Warren and Cash. Loretta was always a hard worker, her first job was in a laundromat, until they found out she was only 12 years old at the time. After that job she began working at a drug store working in the fountain where she realized how much she enjoyed working with and interacting with the public. She worked in other restaurants, and later managed her own. After the birth of her son, she did some seamstress work, and later owned a grocery store. Loretta loved to garden and loved little animals. She once had a squirrel, a baby skunk she named Lavender, and a little pig that thought he was a dog. She had a great sense of humor and had many funny sayings such as “handier than pockets on a shirt”, “quicker than a hot horseshoe”, and “nervous as a cat on a tin roof” to name just a few. She was quick to offer a meal to anyone hungry, and a patient ear for troubled minds. She loved grocery shopping; it was the bargain hunting adventure she loved most about it. Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, Jowett and Lucille, several husbands and a son. She is survived by seven brothers, Elmo Jack Roach and wife Regina, of Tonopah, AZ; Dudley Roach and wife Minoi, of Altus, OK; James Harley Roach and wife Kay, of Toole, Utah; Nolan Roach and wife Kathy, of Idalou, TX; Floyd Roach and wife Diane, of Warren, OK; Dan Roach and wife Georgia, of Weatherford, OK; Randall Roach and wife Bethel, of Fay, OK; two sisters, Carolyn Downing, of Oklahoma City, and Joyce White, of Altus; one granddaughter, one grandson, seven great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.
