A Celebration of Life for Vida Lee Frazier, age 96, of Enid, is 1:00 pm, Monday, January 2, 2017 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home on Sunday, January 1, 2017. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Vida Lee was born on September 24, 1920, in Haskell County, McCurtain, Oklahoma to Henry G. and Jessie (Scruggs) Milam and died December 28, 2016. She graduated from High School at Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1938. Vida Lee went to John Brown University at Siloam Springs, and graduated in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. After graduation from college, Vida Lee taught school in Arkansas for a year, and then married Gerald Frazier in June 1943, and lived in San Antonio where Gerald was stationed at Randolph Field. Vida Lee worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company while in San Antonio. A son, Don, was born in San Antonio in 1944. Vida Lee came to Enid in 1946 and began teaching school at Longfellow Jr. High School in 1948. She retired from that activity in 1953. After her retirement from teaching, two daughters, Dian and Marilyn were born. Her activities extended far beyond devotion to family. Vida Lee served as Chairman of the Enid Camp Fire Board, was a member of the Domes-Ti-Kates, an Extension Club, and was an active worker in First United Methodist Women’s Group and a member of the Friendship Class. Vida Lee was a member of the Gamma Child Study Club. After the member’s children were grown, it became just the “Gamma Study Club.” She loved to sew, as well as to cook, and exhibits of her handiwork were on display regularly at the Garfield County Fair. Vida Lee was very talented when it came to quilting; she loved creating beautiful quilts for her family. She continued sewing and making quilts well into her 80’s. She was also an avid bridge player. Following Gerald’s retirement from Union Equity, they traveled extensively following their granddaughter Amy’s tennis career. They also took many cruises and vacations in the U.S. and abroad. They relocated to Golden Oaks Retirement Village in 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; and three brothers, Dorsey, Grady and Bill Milam. Vida Lee is survived by her children, son Don and wife Carol of Rochester, MI; daughter Dian Bowen and husband Eddie, of Enid; Marilyn Bell, of Enid; three grandchildren, Amy Frazier Johnson and husband Ben, of Rochester, MI; Dr. Ash Bowen and wife Kate, of Edmond, OK; Matt Armstrong, of Enid; three great-granddaughters, Opal Frazier Johnson, of Rochester, MI; Ann and Elizabeth Bowen, of Edmond, OK; two sisters, Jane Robinson, of Ft. Smith, AR, and Lahoma Edwards, Greenwood, AR, as well as many other family and friends. Memorials in Vida Lee’s name may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Enid with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
