After a long, fulfilling and wonderful life, “Aunt Hazel” has gone home for Christmas and is with her Lord and Savior. Hazel was born in Bellefonte and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Blanche Eckley. During her working years she worked at the old Match Factory in Bellefonte and eventually went to work for Penn Tran where she retired after over 40 years of service. Hazel meant so much to all of her many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be sorely missed by all. She loved all of us so much and treated us all like we were her own children. She had a very special “ 2nd Mom” relationship with her niece Nancy who was so much like a daughter to Hazel. Hazel was the last living member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by her two sisters, Helen (Eckley) Taylor, Zillah (Eckley) Brachbill and five brothers, Cecil, Doris, Edgar, Gilbert and Kenneth. She was also preceded in death by her closest friend, Eva Waite. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., Bellefonte. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 with visitation from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., and the funeral service immediately following visitation.
