Robert Bloom

Robert Lee Bloom Sr., 80, of Pleasant Gap passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on June 1, 1936, in Lemont he was the son of the late Mary Rebecca (Williams) Tibbens . On August 21, 1957 in Houserville, he married Norma (Liddick) Bloom, who survives at home.   He was a 1954 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. Robert worked for Penn State University as a facilities inspector until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church.  Robert was a veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps, for his services he received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Medal.   He is survived by two children; Kristy Catalano (Mark) of Howard, Robert Lee Bloom, Jr.(Colleen) of Pleasant Gap, two brothers; Dennis and Barry Tibbens.  Also surviving are four grandchildren; Chad Bloom, Chandra Capen, Medea and Mekenzie Catalano.   A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, 179 S. Main Street, Pleasant Gap, with Pastor Sarah Kim officiating.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church at 179 S. Main Street, Pleasant Gap, PA 16823 or the Pleasant Gap Fire Company at 475 Robinson Lane, Bellefonte, PA 16823. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.wetzlerfuneralhome.com.
