William “Bill” Sullivant Hoffman passed away at home unexpectedly on October 24, 2016 from natural causes. Born on April 29, 1949 in Bellefonte, he was preceded in death by his father Lyne S.S. Hoffman, mother Gladys Carson Hoffman, and sister Jane Flynn. Surviving Bill are his wife of 38 years, Catherine (“Teaker”) S. Techmanski-Hoffman, daughter Lindsay Bixler of Palmyra (son-in-law Jonathan Bixler), son Alex Hoffman of Pittsburgh, grandson Carson Bixler, sister Elizabeth Bistline, and numerous other relatives including a very special cousin Karen Patzer of State College. Bill graduated from State College High School in 1967 and Penn State with a BS in Geology. He had a long career as a Professional Geologist working across the country as well as abroad. Skilled in all aspects of homebuilding, he was always willing to lend one of his talents to a friend in need. Bill enjoyed camping, hiking, traveling, monthly poker games with his friends and spending time with his dog Otto. Friends will be received Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Wetzler Funeral Services, 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, PA 16823 with a celebration of life to follow.
