Sally Davenport Obituary

Sally Davenport, 79, of Saylorsburg passed away on Monday, January 23 in St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. She was the wife of Harry Birch Davenport. They had observed their 57th wedding anniversary in June. Born in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Dorothy (Neilly) Spencer. A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, she had worked as a nursery school director for the Trinity Learning Center in Dallas for twelve years and previously she had worked for United Aircraft in Connecticut. She was a member of the Abundant Life Lutheran Church and the Embroiderers Guild of America. She had been a Girl Scout Leader at one time and she was also an exchange student and field director for the American Field Service. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Harry B. Davenport III of Hamilton, NJ; two daughters, Deborah A, Davenport of Washington, DC and Lisa Davenport Jenkins and her husband Brett of Saylorsburg; a brother, Howard Spencer and his wife Joanne of Kansas City, KS and two grandchildren, Iain and Elizabeth Jenkins. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 28 from Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nazareth with Rev. Brett Jenkins officiating followed by a committal service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dallas at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abundant Life Lutheran Church, P.O.
