Bruce B. Pennington

BRUCE BRYANT PENNINGTON, 78 years of Bel Air, MD, died on Saturday, December 10, 2016. Married on June 30, 1961, he had shared 55 years of marriage with his loving wife, Mary F. (Overbay) Pennington. Born on September 12, 1938 in Ashe County, NC, he was a son of the late John and Jennie (Colvert) Pennington. Following graduation from Nathan's Creek High School in West Jefferson, NC, Bruce found employment in Ohio at the Ford Stamping Plant, but later came to Maryland where he worked at the former Bata Shoe Company. Bruce then served in the military until 1963. An industrious person, Bruce secured a position working as an equipment operator for Price Brothers, retiring in 2003 with 42 years of service. Bruce enjoyed drag racing, NASCAR, but most of all cherished each and every member of his family. He had recently joined his entire family for the wedding of his grandson, Joshua to Mallory Callahan in Punta Cana. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: Two daughters- Robin Canami of Bel Air, MD Dawn Asbury, also of Bel Air Two sisters- Bernice Goodrich of Roanoke, VA Betty French of Sandston, VA Five grandchildren- Joshua Canami, Hannah Asbury, Jessica Canami, Andrew Asbury and Noah Asbury. He was preceded in death by his siblings- Billy John Pennington, Bobbie Raines and Bonnie Reeder Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. The funeral service will be held on Friday, the 16th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jimmy Rufenacht officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Whiteford, MD followed by a luncheon at Bel Forest Baptist Church, 603 Vale Road, Bel Air, MD.
