Mary Murosky

Mary Clare Hergenrother Murosky, 61, of Erie, passed to eternal life, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday January 10, 2015, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Mary was born to the late Paul and Pauline Hergenrother on Novemeber 6, 1953 in Smethport, PA. She attended Smethport Elementary and Junior-Senior High Schools, graduating in 1971. She obtained a Bachelor of Art degree from Mercyhurst College in 1975. On September 29, 1978, she married Ronald Murosky of Erie. For 35 years she was employed by National Fuel Gas, retiring as Assistant General Manager in 2014. An active member of St. George Catholic Church, Mary served for 20 years as an extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. She served on the Parish Council and also was a member of St. George's shawl ministry and centering prayer groups. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, PJ and Andrew Hergenrother. In addition to her husband Ronald, she is survived by two children, Stephen (Emily) and Ann; three grandchildren, Tianna, Tyler and Luke; two brothers, Peter and Patrick (Sarah); two sisters, Karen (Randy) Miles and Lisa (Jeffrey) Miller; and many nieces and nephews. A loving and devoted mother, Mary was very active in her children's pursuits. She served as Treasurer of the Figure Skating Club of Erie, and as a Cub Scout and Webelo leader and Brownie and Junior Girl Scout leader. Mary and her family would like to give special thanks to the Regional Home Health and Hospice and to all who participated in the meal train for their loving care and attention during this time. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. George Catholic Church, 5145 Peach St., at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Bethany Retreat Center, PO Box 120, Frenchville, PA 16836 or to a charity of one's choice.
