John B. Shupe died peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital on September 24, 2016. He was 91 years old. John was born and raised in Shaker Heights, OH on December 28, 1924, graduating from University School. He joined the Army Air Force at age 17. After his discharge he earned a degree in geology at the College of Wooster in Wooster, OH, where he met his wife, Berta Torres. John's first Job out of college was with Texaco on the seismic crew in Blackwell, OK. At age 39 he changed careers and went to Syracuse University, earning a Master's degree in Finance. He spent many years in the trust department at Maryland National Bank in Baltimore, MD. In 1982 he came to Bethlehem, PA to head up the Investment Department at First Valley's Trust Division where he worked for 12 years. John was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem where he served as a trustee and on the Endowment Investment Committee. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, especially with his son, Tom. Survivors: John is survived by Berta, his wife of 66 years, his son, Tom (Alice) of Naperville, IL, daughter, Susan Facchiano (Vince) of Bethlehem, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Richard A. Shupe (Nan) of Atherton, CA and a niece and two nephews. Services: A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11:00 am. Calling hours will be in the church narthex from 10:00 am to 11:00 am preceding the service. Interment will be held privately.
