Evelyn M. Heffelfinger Sipe, 85, of Hummelstown, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in ManorCare, Camp Hill. Born in Hummelstown on August 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edwin S. and Reba P. Wilders Heffelfinger. Evelyn worked as a waitress. She was a very active member of the Union Deposit United Methodist Church. Evelyn was a Gold Circle Member of the Shellsville VFW Auxiliary Unit 9639. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herbert H. Sipe, on April 14, 2012; a daughter, Linda M. “Gert” Knapik; and three sisters, Mary Cobaugh, Bernice Stahl, and Marcella Heisey. She is survived by three sons, Walter S. Sipe and friend Donna of Sinnemahoning, John E. Shifflet husband of Jeannie of Roanoke, VA, and Gary L. Shifflet husband of Gayle of Richmond, VA; a brother, Edwin L. Heffelfinger of Harrisburg; six grandchildren; and five great grandsons. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 7, 2016, at 12:00 Noon in the Union Deposit United Methodist Church, 34 West Main Street, Hershey, with The Rev. Gail P. Boyer, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. Friends will be received for a viewing in the church Monday from 11:00 AM until time of the service.
