Jack D. Etnoyer Sr., 72, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully at his home, on Saturday, July 28, 2012.
Jack is survived by four children, Sherry, wife of Bill Aldinger of Tallahassee, Florida, Michele, wife of Michael Young of St. Louis, Missouri, Jack Etnoyer, Jr., partner of Kim Alexander of Hummelstown and Jason, husband of Bonnie Etnoyer, of Palmyra. He is survived by five grandchildren, Tucker, Samuel, Mia and Eva Etnoyer and Tyler Aldinger. Jack is also survived by his long time companion, Janet Crist, of Bressler, Janet’s daughter, Tracy, wife of Victor Ramsey and Janet’s granddaughter, Vianna. He is also survived by two sisters, Carol, wife of Robert Hanula of Grantville, and Catherine, wife of the late Jack Bitner of Newville; and a brother, William, husband of Delphine Etnoyer of Harrisburg. Jack is survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Helen Etnoyer, a sister, Gladys Scritchfield, and a brother, Martin Jr., husband of Faye Etnoyer of Dauphin.
Jack was born and raised in Steelton on the Cameron farm and he always talked fondly of his years growing up there. He graduated from Central Dauphin High School in 1958 and was employed as a construction supervisor at Crystal Pools in Elizabethtown for over forty years. Everyone that knew and worked with Jack knew what a hard worker he was. He worked tirelessly and always wanted things to be right for the customers that he worked for. He retired in 2005 and since then has enjoyed spending time with Janet and his family. Jack loved to cook and always insisted his recipes were better than his daughters. Jack always loved music and enjoyed playing guitar with his grandsons.
He was a humble man; was very much loved by his family and friends and he will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Interment will be in the Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin.
