Jesse Messimer Obituary

Jesse D. Messimer, 82, of Millerstown, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Palmyra, PA on October 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Jesse D., Sr. and Margie E. Wertman Messimer. Jesse retired from the maintenance department of the Hershey Foods Corporation. He was a member of the Manada Gap Assembly of God, Harrisburg and was an avid hunter, enjoyed following NASCAR, and was a master tinkerer. Jesse loved his farm life in the country and traveling with his wife, Dorothy, in their camper. He spent many of his recent days driving his Amish friends and neighbors. Jesse will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy A. Rearick Messimer, on February 10, 2006; and his sisters, Bella M. Webber and Myrl E. Barnes. He is survived by his brother, Donald L. and wife Dorothy M. Flick Messimer of Ickesburg; and seven nieces and nephews. Jesse is also survived by his adoptive family, Bryan and Lisa Arndt and their sons, Chad and Austin, of Harrisburg. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown with The Rev. Ronald C. Briggs, his retired pastor officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. Friends are invited to the viewing in the funeral home on Saturday from 10 AM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to American Heart/Stroke Association, Capital Region, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043 and/or the American Cancer Society, 112 Sipe Avenue, Hummelstown, PA 17036.
