Kenneth G. Lawyer, affectionately known as “Tex” and “Pop”, 90, of Middletown, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in the Frey Village Retirement Center.
Born in Lancaster on July 14, 1926, he was the son of the late William J. and Ethel Mae Gast Lawyer.
Ken retired from the Patriot News where he worked as a Pressman for 44 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a plank holder of the U.S.S. Goodrich. Ken was a member of the Church of the Redeemer United Church of Christ, Hershey. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #464, and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Ken was a dual State member of the Free and Accepted Masons in both Pennsylvania and Texas currently holding a membership in the Steelton-Swatara Lodge #775, F & AM. He was a member of the Astro Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star, Steelton-Swatara. Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to go camping.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sue Higginbotham Lawyer, on January 21, 2012; and his beloved dog, Pugs.
Ken is survived by four sons, Ronald Watson of Tennessee, Adrian Watson husband of Helen “Scootie” Watson of Virginia, James Watson husband of Sandra Watson of Elizabethtown, and Kenneth Lawyer of Middletown; one daughter, Sandy Dragovan companion of Michael Ramsey of Middletown; one brother, William Lawyer of Florida; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
In keeping with Ken’s wishes, there will be no services. Inurnment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township.
