Luella Jones Obituary

Luella Mae (Mease) Jones, 86, of Elizabethtown, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016, in the Penn State Hershey Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. She was born on February 10, 1930, in Greenpoint, Lebanon County, to the late Harvey E. and Martha (Binkley) Mease. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Norman O. Jones, on October 22, 1974. Luella retired in 1992 from the H. B. Reese Candy Company of the Hershey Chocolate Corporation. She worshipped at the former Hummelstown Brethren in Christ Church for many years. She was devoted to her home and family. Among her interests were gardening and enjoying her backyard feathered friends. Surviving are sons, Norman R. Jones (Naomi) of Palmyra, Kevin J. Jones (Cindy) of Hummelstown, and Matthew J. Jones of Elizabethtown; daughters, Patricia A. Hess of Columbia, Susanne E. Wenger (Carl) of Waynesboro, and Anita M. McCully (Thomas) of Grantville; grandchildren, John A. Hess, Jr. and Kristina Clayton both of Columbia, and Laura R. Bedell and Carrie D. Thompson both of Waynesboro; and nine great grandchildren. She leaves behind her long time companion, James H. Hanshaw. She is also survived by brothers, Ray Mease of Palmyra, Edwin Mease of Hershey, Harrison Mease of Alabama, Alan Mease of Bethel, and Thomas Mease of Fredericksburg; and sisters, Geraldine Bohr of Annville, Anna Kreiser and Linda Doster both of Jonestown, and Louise LeVan of Schuylkill Haven; as well as numerous, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Luella was preceded in death by grandchildren, Marie Jones and Curtis L. Wenger; and brothers, Charles, Elvin and Freddy Mease. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Jason R. Mackey, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewings in the funeral home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 6 to 8 PM, and Wednesday from 10 AM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart/Stroke Association, Capital Region, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
