R. Lee Engle, 89, of Hummelstown, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016, with his loving family by his side. Born in Gowen City on July 3, 1927, he was the son of the late Benjamin D. and Minnie Mae Hornberger Engle. Lee was the owner of Lee’s Sunoco Station and Lee’s Auto Center, both in Hummelstown, as well as being an auto mechanic. He was an active member of the Open Door Bible Church, Middletown. Lee was also a former member of Edsel Owners Club of America. He was an avid hunter and dedicated his life to being a hard worker. Lee is survived by his wife, Dorothy Smith Engle; his children, Gloria M. Rine wife of Terry G. of Hummelstown, Lynnette H. Hagan of Harrisburg, Daniel L. Engle husband of Sharon R. of Lewisberry, and Janet K. Morrill wife of Rocky E. of Punta Gorda, FL; siblings, Marlin Engle husband of Sally of Hummelstown, and Helen Keefer of Gowen City; a step son, Edward Lammando husband of Marcia of Hummelstown; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and Grant Engle; and sisters, Susie Mae Whery, Edna Brown, Gertrude Helwig, Grace Bramley, and Ivy Weikel. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with Pastor Samuel Bereza, his pastor, officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday in the funeral home from 10 AM until time of the service.
