Age 86, of Dormont, born on May 1, 1930 in Karpathos, Greece, died peacefully at the University Drive campus of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System on Monday, March 20, 2017. Fiercely loyal, Mike loved his family, served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, and honored his Greek heritage. He was working as a waiter when he met Marie, the love of his life, at a Greek dance. His entrepreneurial spirit and passion for the restaurant business led to his owning several successful bars and restaurants in the Pittsburgh and Oakland areas. Following his retirement from the restaurant business, he returned to working as a union waiter. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Zoe; his brother, Gus; his sister, Maritsa (Scoulos), and his wife of 50 years, Marie (Monios). He will continue to live on in the hearts of his children: Stella, Joyce (Gary) Geiger, Louis (Sherri), and Tina (James) Guyton. His grandchildren, Michael (Abbie), Maria Geiger (Jim Blosser), and Amanda Geiger (Mike Liscinski), will forever celebrate their Pappou, a role he cherished.
