Samuel Forbes Rockwell III

Age 77, of Upper St. Clair, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Friday, March 17, 2017. Beloved Husband of Mary Rockwell for 55 years; Loving Father of Rebecca (John) Washabaugh, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Fecko, and Samuel F. (Anne) Rockwell IV; Proud Grandfather, affectionately known as "Sampa," of Brandon, Steven, Richard, Jeffrey, Jack, Annie, Kathryn, and Sam V; Great-Grandfather of Addilyn; Caring Brother of Abigail, Eleanor, Carolyn, Rosamond, and Diana. Born in Haverhill, MA to Samuel Forbes Rockwell, Jr. and Ursula Ingalls Hazen, Sam was a 1958 graduate of Phillips Andover Academy and a 1962 graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He began his career in Pittsburgh in banking and was an executive vice-president at Dollar Bank. After a time at National Development Corporation, he founded his own company, Colebrook Management, Inc. and was well respected throughout the industry. Sam was past president of the Apartment Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh and the Arthritis Foundation as well as numerous other boards. Sam was a true gentleman and lover of life. Ever the outdoorsman and enthusiast, Sam reveled in downhill and cross-country skiing, golf, tennis, biking, and squash. His family and friends were his true passion and source of joy, having spent with them many summers on the lake as a member of the Tunxis Club in Tolland, MA. The mountains of Hidden Valley, PA provided a welcome retreat in recent years for his family and will always remind them of his great love of the outdoors. He not only enjoyed these activities and venues, but also he gave of his time and talents as a founding member of the MTGlass Ski Club as well as a participating member of St. Clair Country Club and the Pittsburgh Athletic Association. He remained active to the end, skiing in Colorado just last week. He was most proud of his family, which could be seen in his beautiful blue eyes. Funeral arrangements will be provided by BEINHAUERS, 724-941-3211. Friends and Family are welcome at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray on Wednesday from 6-8 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Everyone please meet at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2040 Washington Road, Upper St. Clair on Friday at 3 PM for a Celebration of Life. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Arthritis Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
