Robert Miller

Robert E. "Bob" Miller, 71, of Petersburg, PA, formerly of Milesburg passed away on Sunday, December 4 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in the presence of his sons. Bob was born on April 29, 1945, the son of Robert M. and Sarah Anna (Wilson) Miller, who both preceded him in death. On February 19, 1965 Bob married Barbara B. (Boring) Miller, who preceded him in death on June 14, 2009. He was a 1963 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School, and attended York College, then he entered the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. As he moved through the ranks, he served in Ridgeway, Milesburg and Fogelsville, PA, retiring at the rank of Sergeant in 1993, to devote time to his wife. They traveled the United States, Canada and the Caribbean until her health made it prohibitive. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an Elder at the Milesburg Presbyterian Church. He was a member of George C. Wagner F. & A.M. #639, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Centre Forest #129, the Order of Eastern Star Centre Chapter #207, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #61, the Retired State Police Association, the Centre County Farm Bureau and the Liars and Loafers Club. Bob was a devoted family man. He is survived by his sons, Steven T. Miller of Bellefonte and Scott T. (Kelly) Miller of Newville, PA. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Stevie Nicole Miller Delozier (Stephen); Sarah Miller, Drew Miller, Jonathan Miller, Erin Miller; his great grandchildren, Olivia, Kayla, and Bridget; his sisters, Patricia Finger, of Tempe, Arizona, Beverly Carpenter (Frank) of Kernersville, NC; his sister-in-law, Nancy Weikel (Stephen) of Hershey, PA.; his brother -in-law, James W. Boring (Patricia) of Belleville, PA; his four nieces, six nephews and their spouses and children. Also surviving is his fiance, Sandra L. Hart, her daughter, Julee and granddaughter, Carlee. Bob loved his family and friends and was a source of comfort and a confident to many. He loved playing poker, telling stories and the outdoors, especially his farm in Stone Valley where he lived the past six years. His traveling companion, green Suburban, was targeted for 307K miles soon and most of the miles were between Stone Valley and Centre County. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 6 PM until 8 PM at the Henderson Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville and on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 6 PM until 8 PM at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring Street, Milesburg. A Masonic Service will be held at 8 PM . A Funeral and Celebration of Bob's life will be on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Milesburg Presbyterian Church, 103 Turnpike Street, Milesburg, PA., with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be in the Saint Stephens Lutheran Church Cemetery, Jackson Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Milesburg Presbyterian Church, 103 Turnpike Street, P.O. Box 837, Milesburg, PA 16853 in memory of Robert Miller. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring Street, Milesburg, PA.
