Alda Lehman

Alda Mae Lehman, 94, a resident of Menno Haven, formerly of St. Thomas, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 in the home. She was born September 3, 1922 in St. Thomas Township, Franklin County. Alda Mae was a daughter of the late Elmer R. and Sadie L. Auman Ryder. She and her late husband, Nathan J. Lehman, who died May 28, 1994 were retired dairy farmers. Alda Mae was a member of Brandts Church of the Brethren, St. Thomas and was active with the Women’s Fellowship. She volunteered with Gideons Auxiliary and Camp JOY EL. Alma Mae was a 1940 graduate of the former Lemasters High School. She is survived by three daughters, LaVerne R. (Rev. Harold E.) Yeager of St. Thomas, Linda K. (Marv) Hissong of Greencastle, and Lorie K. (Dean) Horst of Thomasville, eight grandchildren, Penny, Regina, Carmen, Craig, Brian, Chad, Jenna, and Jillien, 14 great grandchildren, one brother, Donald E. (Arlene) Ryder of Greencastle, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Horst, a brother, Harold Ryder, and three sisters, Francis Martin, Anna Ruth Showalter, and Hazel Witter. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in the Brandts Church of the Brethren at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Roger Myers officiating. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Brandts Church of the Brethren, 8003 Brandts Church Road, St. Thomas, PA 17252, Benevolent Fund at Menno Haven, 2011 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or a charity of choice.
