Bernice “Marie” Myers, 81, of Newburg, went home to be with her Lord on the morning of Monday, November 14, 2016. Born on June 30, 1935, in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Edna Kessler Peiper and married Glenn W. Myers on January 30, 1954 at the Messiah United Methodist Church. Marie will be greatly missed and remembered for her love of family, friends, and neighbors. She was well known for sharing her gift of baking, which included pies, Christmas cookies, and pumpkin logs. She spent her life on a farm and loved naming her cows. She was a charter member of the Cumberland County Farm Women Group 21 and a member of the Otterbein U.M. Church of Newburg. She assisted in her younger years with the youth fellowship group and served on the ladies missionaries’ society. She will be missed by her husband of 62 years, Glenn W. Myers; two children, William E. Myers and wife Loni, and Deborah J. and husband, Daniel Timmons of Shippensburg; two siblings, Melva J. and husband Ted Sheaffer, and Edgar K. Peiper of Shippensburg; two granddaughters, Tara D. and husband Brandon Ramsey, and Shaina R. and husband Derek Witter; two great grandchildren, Collin M. Ramsey and Makenzie Marie Witter; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Mae Ile and sister-in-law, Susan Peiper. A service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Newburg. Pastor Susan Stewart, Pastor Dale Miller, Jr., and Rev. John A. Ile, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church, as well as Saturday morning, one half hour prior to the service. The family is grateful for the loving care given to Marie by Sherry Wenger, and also by the staff at the Orrstown Personal Care Home.
