Donald Keebaugh Obituary

Donald L. Keebaugh, 94, of Chambersburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Thursday, December 1, 2016, at his home. Born on July 25, 1922, in Metal, Pa., he was a son of the late John and Ella Mae Mills Keebaugh. Donald married Merbuda L. “Boots” Meredith on September 5, 1942, in Cearfoss, Md. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2004. Donald worked for PennDOT for over forty years, first on a road crew and second, as a dispatcher, retiring in 1984. Earlier in life Donald was a tenant farmer and enjoyed gardening. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and was known as one of the best horseshoe pitchers around the area. He liked to fish, was a model railroad enthusiast, enjoyed watching NASCAR and rooting for Dale Earnhardt Jr., was a die-hard Phillies fan, and would faithfully write in his journal every single day. He is survived by his companion, Aurora Miller of Chambersburg; seven children, Donald M. (Mary) Keebaugh of Newville, Audrey Darlene (Steve) Argenbright of Fayetteville, Larry D. Keebaugh of Carlisle, Nancy L. Graver of Gardners, John E. (companion, Angela Gamble) of Littlestown, David L. (Sharon) Keebaugh of Newville, and Tina M. (Randy) Kuykendall of Carlisle; twenty grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Florence Fittry of Waynesboro; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and spouse, Donald was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly S. Keebaugh; five brothers; and four sisters. His graveside funeral service will be held at 11a.m., on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Mr. David L. Keebaugh, his son, will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004 or the American Heart Association Franklin/Fulton Division at 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
