Josephine Carey Obituary

Josephine E. Carey, 89, of Shippensburg formerly of Airport Road, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at home. She was born March 1, 1927 in Mechanicsburg, PA. Josephine was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Martha R. Gibble Cocklin. She was a member of the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren. Josephine was co-owner of the former Carey’s Sales and Services, Shippensburg and years ago worked at the U-Wanna-Wash Frock Company. She was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, L. J. Carey who died July 22, 1994. Two sisters and one brother are also deceased. Josephine is survived by one son, Larry J. Carey of Branchburg, NJ, one daughter, Sally J. Garloff of Lebanon, five grandchildren, Stephen, Marcus, Michael, Melissa, and Kevin, six great grandchildren, Anthony, Deanna, Nathan, Sebastain, Joshua, and Matthew, one sister, Theresa C. Eshbach of Dover, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 in the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Brian Markle, Pastor Victor Norris, and Rev. Warren Eshbach. Burial will be privately held in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren, 253 East Garfield Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
