Virginia McGowan

Virginia K. McGowan, 65, of Orrstown, departed this life on the morning of Monday, November 28, 2016, at the Chambersburg Hospital. She was born on December 22, 1950, in Carlisle, the daughter of the late Ludwig and Grace Bruce. Virginia married Paul R. McGowan, Sr., on November 19, 1966, in Doubling Gap. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2009. Virginia was a homemaker throughout her life. She was known for her nice houseplants and was constantly adding to her collection of family photos to hang on the wall. Her grandchildren seemed to always be at her house and she took great interest in what was happening in their lives. Virginia was very devoted to her family. She is survived by six children, Ronald L. (fiance’Kim Wetzel) McGowan of Carlisle, Richard L. McGowan of Orrstown, Thomas J. McGowan of Shippensburg, Paul R. (partner-in-life, William Lee) McGowan, Jr., of Carlisle, Donald R. (Karen) McGowan of Dry Run, and Mary (fiance’ Zachary McCleary) of Orrstown; seventeen grandchildren, Janessa Naugle, Craig, Adam, and Katrina McGowan, William and James McGowan, Paige McGowan, Logan Johnson, Katherine and Carter McGowan, Jenna and Dylan Williams, Mackenzie and Mackayla Traini, and Delaney, Allison, and Scarlet McCleary; and four great grandchildren, Morgyn and Brock Sherman and Olivia and Kayaleigh McGowan. Virginia’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service. Interment will be private, at a later date.
