George J. Kachonick, 74, of Clarence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Born on April 5, 1942, in Clarence, he was the son of the late Michael E. and Susan Almashie Kachonick. George attended the Clarence School. He was a life member of the Queen of Archangels Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence. He attended mass faithfully if his health permitted. George worked at JH France Refractory in Clarence for many years before retirement. George enjoyed hunting and fishing. He made 16 fishing trips to Canada. He liked going out to eat. He loved to tinker around the house, doing things outdoors, feeding the dear, birds and his cats. George is survived by his three sisters; Albina Spilla of Clarence, Martha Leigey of Rockport, PA and Maryann Baranak and his nephew, Peter J. Kachonick of Maye Landing, NJ. Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by one brother, Michael D. Kachonick, and three sisters; Helen Kachonick, Margaret Stania, and Elizabeth Kachonick. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 5-7pm with a rosary service at 6:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, November 21, 20156 at 11am at the Queen of Archangels Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence with Father Michael Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow at Askey Cemetery in Snow Shoe Twp.
