Chester Hodun

Chester Hodun, 92, of East Stroudsburg, Pa. died peacefully on Thursday Nov. 24, 2016 in the Chandler Hall Nursing Facility Newtown, Pa. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. he was the son of the late Stephen and Stella (Budkevitch) Hodun. Chester was a resident of the E. Stroudsburg area for the past 33 years and prior to that he resided in the New York City, N.Y. area. Chester was a Police Officer for the NYCP department for 12 years and then became a detective in the NYC D.A. office from 1947 until 1960. He then owned and operated 2 restaurants/taverns in the New York City area until his retirement. He also worked as head of security in the Abraham & Strauss Dept. stores for several years before moving to the E. Stroudsburg area. Chester was an active member of the Church of St. John the Apostle in E. Stroudsburg. He was a proud Marine Veteran of WWII and described his years in the Marines as the best years of his life. Chester is survived by 16 loving nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by a niece and 2 nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday Dec. 2, 2016 at 10:00am from the Church of St. John the Apostle 5171 Milford Rd. E. Stroudsburg with Fr. Gregory Reichlin as celebrant. Burial will be on Monday Dec. 5, 2016 at 1:00pm in the Calvary Cemetery 4902 Laurel Hill Blvd. Woodside, N.Y. 11377. There will be a viewing on Friday Dec. 2, 2016 from 9:00am until the time of the services at the church. The Joseph J.
