Vivian Ruth (Shade) Christman, 82, died November 13, 2012 in her Oley Township residence.
She was married November 18, 1950 to the late George D. "Shorty" Christman, who died February 19, 2010.
Born January 18, 1930 in Laureldale, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clifford M. Sr., and Mildred M. (Anderson) Shade.
She was a 1947 graduate of Oley High School.
Vivian was a member of Frieden's United Church of Christ, Oley.
She was employed a number of years as a clerk with Whitner's Department Store, Reading.
Vivian spent her entire adult life in the butcher business and the last 37 years, along with her husband, as co-owner of Christman's Meat Market, Oley, last working in July.
She served as den mother for 10 years with Cub Scout Troup #569, Oley.
Vivian was very active in her churches, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir.
She is survived by two children: David A., husband of Ruth Ann (Landis) Christman of Alsace Township and Donna M. (Christman), wife of Douglass B. Kase of Oley Township.
Other survivors include two siblings: Floyd H., husband of Betty L. (Brice) Shade of Lower Alsace Township and Fern M. (Shade), wife of Wayne J. Shearer of Ruscombmanor Township.
There are also six grandchildren: Jessica A. (Christman), wife of Andrew M. Wagner; Amy L. (Christman), wife of Jesse L. Moyer; Nathan A. Christman, fiancé of Lauren E. Angstadt; Kimberly A. (White), wife of Eric L. Seyler; Katelyn E. White, fiancée of Justin H. Sailer and Kristin M. White.
Vivian is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Madison, Tyler, Daniel, Ryan, Jacob, Emma, Anna and Aubrey.
She was predeceased by a brother, Clifford M. Shade Jr., who died in July, 2001.
Service will be private. Burial will be in Frieden's Cemetery, Oley.
