Wendell Bernard Pols, he lived a life of service to others. Professor of Library and Information Science at Roger Williams University in Bristol Rhode Island. Passed away on April 1st 2016, after surgery for complications of 41 years of Type 1 Diabetes, Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. At the age of 75. Professor Pols received his BS from Roger Williams College in 1971. His Master’s Degree in Library & Information Sciences from the University of Rhode Island 1976. Graduate work in Archival Science at Columbia University in New York. He was a graduate of William L. Dickenson High School Class of June 1958. He served 4 years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on January 2, 1941 at Christ Hospital . He was the son of the late Mabel Louise (Bernard) Pols, and Edwin Pols. He leaves his partner of 38 years, Charles Stanley Otley Jr., several cousins and families, and adopted families in New Bedford MA. He was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Swansea MA, an active member of American Legion Post 104 Warren RI, the George Hail Free Library in Warren, RI, and caretaker of the historic North Burial Ground in Warren RI, for over 3 years . His calling hours will be held Saturday April 16, 2016 from 9-10:00am in Christ Church, 57 Main Street, Swansea, followed by a funeral service at 10:00am in the Church, burial with Military Honors will follow in Christ Church Cemetery.
