Amelia Turrisi

Amelia B. (Terranova) Turrisi, of Canal Street, Westerly, passed away at the Westerly Health Center on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the age of 100. She was the wife of the late John P. Turrisi, Sr. Born in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Dominica Terranova. Amelia was a devout communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and worked as a cook for the church for many years. She also enjoyed knitting and baking for family and friends. She is survived by her two sons, John P. Turrisi, Jr. and his wife Nancy and Stephen R. Turrisi and his wife Donna, all of Pawcatuck; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her Goddaughter Joanne Grills of Westerly; and several nieces and nephews. Amelia was predeceased by eleven siblings. A special thanks to the staff of the Westerly Health Center for your care, kindness and support. Visiting hours are omitted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12 noon at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Westerly Health Center Activity Fund, 280 High St., Westerly, RI 02891 in Amelia’s memory.
