Charles J. Crowley, 91, of Croft Court, Pawcatuck, passed away at his home on November 10, 2016 with his children by his side. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite (Cardinal) Crowley. Born in Pawcatuck, he was a son of the late Frederick and Alice Crowley. Charles worked at E.B. in Groton for many years until his retirement and a lifelong devoted communicant of St. Michael’s Church. A Veteran of the Army Air Corp, he was also a member of the VFW Harley P. Chase Post No. 1265 and caretaker for the Pawcatuck WWI monument for 40 years. Always an active member of the community, Charlie also proudly served as a member of the Pawcatuck Volunteer Fire Dept. He is survived by his three children, Fr. Michael Crowley of S. Portland, ME, Fr. Brendan Crowley of Chicopee, MA, and Karen M. Crowley of Pawcatuck. He will be dearly missed by his eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Charlie was predeceased by his daughter Charlene Crosby; three brothers, Francis, Joseph and James Crowley; three sisters, Eleanor Crowley, Elizabeth Gervasini and Sister Mary Crowley. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday at 9:30am at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main St., Stonington. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Michael Capital Campaign, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck, CT 06379 in Charlie’s memory.
