Lena Cofone Obituary

Pawcatuck – Lena M. (Silvestri) Cofone On December 4th, 2016, our dear sweet Lena left this world to be welcomed into Heaven by her husband Mickey; her parents; her sisters, Marion Adams, Dottie Lidestri; and brothers, Vinnie and Joe. She leaves behind her brother Dom and his wife Margie of Miami, FL; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Silvestri (Joe) and June Silvestri (Vinnie); and her brother-in-law Sam Cofone and his wife Lois. She will be missed by Mickey’s sisters, Stella Ligouri (Jim), Eleanor Ritzie (Henry), Rosemarie Christina (Bob) and Nancy Cozzolino. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Anna Rowland. She was a devoted “Auntie” to her nieces, Deb Stott, Susan Menner (Ron), Cathy Macri, Kelly Clairmont and Jil Silvestri Pinney; and her nephews, Ken and Larry Adams, Joseph and Anthony Lidestri, Ken Silvestri, Michael, John and Joseph Silvestri, and Jamie and Paul Silvestri. Auntie always remembered christenings, anniversaries and birthdays with “a little something”. We will all remember her bright smile and never-ending kindness. Ryan, Sarah and Nicole Menner shared a unique bond with their Auntie. Thank you for the love and joy you brought into Mickey and Lena’s life. She also leaves a myriad of friends who received the same generous kindness and care that she gave her family. Lena was the third child of six born to Epifanio and Domenica Silvestri. Lena worked at the Victory Bakery early on, then joined her husband and brother-in-law at Sandy’s Fruit Stand, first in Pawcatuck then on Post Road in Westerly. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at The Westerly Hospital for their compassion and care during her recent illness. They also send their warmest appreciation to Dr. Robert Serra and the wonderful staff at the Watch Hill Manor, who cared for her so devotedly. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 10am. Burial will be private. Donations in Lena’s memory may be made to the St. Michael Capital Campaign, 60 Liberty St. Pawcatuck, CT 06379. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly is in charge of the arrangements.
