Harris Boyce Obituary

Retired fighter pilot Lt. Col. Harris S. Boyce took his final flight Saturday evening, December 17th. Born to William and Jesse Boyce March 19, 1923 in Albion, N.Y., Col. Boyce learned to fly by age 17. Shortly after, he joined the Army-Air Corp and went on to fly combat in World War II, Korea and Vietnam with the United States Air Force. After 30 years and retirement, he and his sweet, devoted wife Velma, continued to travel and visit family well into their eighties. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, and his wife Velma. He is survived by one sister Donna; three children, Wayne, Steve and Pam; six grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Beloved by all their family, he and Velma will long be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Aaron Reed officiating. Burial will full military honors will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. p.m. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
