Lee (Buddy) Owen Hunter, age 88, of Clarksville, TN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 5, 2016. Buddy was born January 22, 1928 in Christian County, Kentucky to the late Mary Lee Owen Hunter and Hugh Franklin Hunter, Sr. He graduated from Sewanee Military Academy and Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He was a U.S. Army Sergeant First Class in the 156th Infantry Battalion during the Korean War where he trained personnel in communications protocol. He worked at Pennyrile Rural Electric, was a writer and photographer for the Ft. Campbell Courier newspaper, a Public Affairs Officer and retired as a computer programmer with the Department of the Army. However, his foremost occupation in life was as a farmer and gardener from which he never retired. He was raised in the Presbyterian Church in Trenton, Kentucky and served as an elder at that location before becoming a member at First Presbyterian Church, Clarksville, TN. He enjoyed history, travelling, classical music and art, wine making, hunting, fishing and was a lifelong learner and student of our world. He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Glenn Hunter and brother Hugh Franklin Hunter Jr. Buddy is survived by his children Benjamin Lee Hunter and his wife Pam Hunter, step-daughters Sallie Armstrong, Millie Armstrong and Elizabeth Ledbetter and their families, and grandsons Jacob and Will Hunter. Buddy donated his body to the Vanderbilt Anatomical Donation Program for the advancement of education and clinical training of medical students, physicians and other medical personnel. He will be buried at his beloved farm Windy Hill. A private memorial service will be planned at a later date.
