Joe Carroll Burnette, age 81 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life Thursday, January 12, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. Joe was born Saturday, March 9, 1935 in Cookeville, Tennessee. He was the son of the late John Thurman and Ada Dessie (Puckett) Burnette. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Brother. He loved his family, friends, church, riding motorcycles, competitive sports, working in his yard and being outside. He served in the Tennessee National Guard. He worked at Carlen Motor Company and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He also worked at Midstate Motorsports for a few years after retirement. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 61 years: Mattie (Cantrell) Burnette of Cookeville, TN 1 Son and Daughter-In-Law: Steve and Melanie Burnette of Cookeville, TN 3 Grandchildren: Leslie (Burnette) Anderson and Husband, Josh, Hunter and Jackson Coe all of Cookeville, TN 1 Great Grandchild: Jaden Rose Burnette of Pontiac, MI 1 Brother and Sister-In-Law: James and Francis Burnette of Powell, TN In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Grandson, Cpl. Johnathon Tyler Burnette. Funeral services for Joe will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 beginning at 1:00 pm at Eastwood Baptist Church, 389 S. Old Kentucky Road, Cookeville, TN , with Bro. Clint Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crest Lawn Funeral Home Friday, January 13 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and again at Eastwood Baptist Church Saturday, January 14, 1100 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.
