James Edward "Jim" Cheek

James Edward “Jim” Cheek, Jr., age 18 of Franklin, TN went to be with the Lord November 22, 2016. Senior at Centennial High School where he was active in sports including playing second base on the baseball team, wide receiver and special teams on the football team. He was an avid outdoorsman. Jim was a loyal friend to many. His hands were so talented with his art and woodworking skills. He was faithful to the Lord. His smile and quick wit will be in our hearts and minds forever. Preceded in death by grandfathers, Dr. John C. Donaldson and James “Jim” Cheek. Survived by: parents, Ward and Lea Cheek; sister, Claire Cheek; grandparents, Frances Donaldson & Virginia Cheek; aunts and uncles, Johnny (Jean) Donaldson, Lenea (Craig) Ogletree, Libbi (Jason) Thompson, Camille (Richard) Lowe, Laurie (Barry) Omohundro, Suzanne (Jim) Hillin and Emily (Bryan) Ansley and other loving family members and many friends. Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 PM Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ, Jason Pagel and Chris Smith officiating. Visitation will be 2-7PM Saturday and 2-4 PM Sunday at the church. Pallbearers will be Kelley Tenpenny, Bill Dickerson, Tadd Brewer, Luke Smith, David Sciortino, Scott Hubbard, Doug Jones, Chad Jordan, Robert Page and Michael Lillicrap. Honorary pallbearers will be Centennial High School Football and Baseball Teams and Harpeth Hills Youth Group Church League Boys Basketball Team. Private family graveside will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jim Cheek Memorial Fund, c/o Harpeth Hills Church of Christ, 1949 Old Hickory Blvd., Brentwood, TN 37027.
