Virginia “Trixie” Stevenson Wells, 67, 524 Harmon Court, Kings Mountain, NC, went home to be with the Lord following a lengthy illness on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Kings Mountain Hospital, Kings Mountain, NC.
Trixie was born in Johnson City, raised in Limestone, lived in Greeneville and Johnson City most of her life before moving to Kings Mountain ten years ago.
She was a daughter of the late Albert and Virginia Reynolds Stevenson.
Trixie retired from Leon Ferenbach in 1989.
She was a Baptist.
Trixie enjoyed cooking, playing cards, doing hair, watching westerns and soap operas. She was a loving and devoted mother and always went above and beyond for her family.
In addition to her parents, Trixie was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Wells, and five siblings, Albert Louis Stevenson, Fannie Mae Campbell, Alberta Thomas, Ava Peeler Avery and Jerry Stevenson.
She is survived by four children, Loretta Stevenson Degree and husband Thomas, Grover, NC, Robert Stevenson, Greeneville, Della Wells Gardner and husband Tom, Kings Mountain, NC and McKeysha Wells Ellis and husband Emanuel, Kings Mountain, NC; seven siblings, Savannah Dickson, Jonesborough, Henry Stevenson and wife Janet, Limestone, Mary Lucy Edwardson, Johnson City, Fred Stevenson, Limestone, Virginia Pirtle, Johnson City, Douglas Stevenson, Limestone, and Annette Stevenson, Limestone; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a special friend in heart of the family, Cornelius “Curt” Rollins; friends of the family, Charlene Hamilton, Carol Bridwell and Pam Moore.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. from the East Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and flowerbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour.
