Samuel Dwight Campbell

Samuel Dwight Campbell-age 78 of Rutledge and Maynardville passed away Sunday morning, October 16, 2016 at his home. He was a lifetime member of Oakland Baptist Church in Grainger County, graduate of Rutledge High School, class of 1956; Graduate of John A. Gupton School of Mortuary Science, class of 1961. He was a member of the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. He was a partner with his wife in ownership of Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Inc., Maynardville. He is preceded in death by parents, Byrd and Wilda Cabbage Campbell; two brothers, Swan Campbell, Willis Campbell and three sisters, Ruth Allen, Ruby Campbell and Fern Turley. Survivors: Wife, Dottie Looney Williams Campbell of Rutledge; son, Sammy D. Campbell of Morristown; step-children, Dewayne (Lisa) Willams and Rodney Williams of Rutledge; three grandchildren, Bridgett and Daniel; Chauntae and Jonathan; Kayla and Arthur; nine great-grandchildren, brother, Kermit (Joe) Campbell and wife, Betty of Knoxville; sister, Margaret Snelling of South Carolina. Mother-in-law, Lorena Willocks; sister-in-law, Sherry Cameron and husband, Greg; brother-in-law, Jeff Looney and wife, Dee, all of Blaine. Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Friends may call at their convenience 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary. Funeral service and eulogy 7 p.m. Tuesday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, conducted by the mortuary chaplain, Rev. Greg Sharp, with comments to follow by Rev. Joe McCoy. Music by the Sherritze Family. The body will lie in state 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2016, Oakland Baptist Church, Rutledge with service to follow conducted by lifetime friend, Rev. Dennis Alder. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Employees of Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Doug Osborne, E. J. Smith, Coy Bailey, Swan Evans, Gene McBee, Rev. Greg Sharp, Gail Corum, McKenzie Sharp and Jimmy Ford.
