BIlly Carnes

Billy Dean Carnes, 73, of Hawley passed away Friday, November 18, 2016. Services are scheduled for 4:00 p. m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Hawley Church of Christ with burial to follow at Hawley Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 -5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, in North’s Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street, Abilene. Billy was born January 16, 1943 in Mineral Wells in the Crazy Water Hotel to Burney and Lorene (Bryant) Carnes. Billy met the love of his life, Brenda, when his family moved to Hawley at the age of fourteen and Billy and Brenda married August 18, 1961. He worked as a carpenter, building metal buildings through out Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and other states. Billy loved to ride his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and spend time with his family. Family was his number one priority. Billy, in his younger days, called himself “Wild Bill” but as he got older and slower he changed his name to “Mild Bill”. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Delores Clinton, sisters–in-law, Carole Carnes, Wanda Carnes and three nieces. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Brenda Carnes of Hawley; son, Russell Carnes and wife Tina of Lipan, daughters; Surenda Lord and husband Gary of Hawley and Stacie Heine and husband Rusty of Hawley; brothers, Roger and Gery Carnes both of Hawley sister; Barbara Taggart and husband Wayne of Novice. Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren and one on the way. He leaves behind a large family and a large family of friends and some he has known for over forty years. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hawley Volunteer Fire Department, 709 Ave F, Hawley, Texas. Thank you to Dr. James Wray, Dr. Fakhoury and all the nurses at Lone Star Dialysis Center.
