Johnnie “Allene” Scott, 96, of Abilene, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016. A Funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2016, in North’s Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mike Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, Funston, Texas, under the direction of North’s Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, in North’s Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St. Johnnie Allene Scott was born February 18, 1920, in Jones County, Texas to Willis James and Leta Bell (Staritt) Vinson. She married Norman “Bennie” Scott on September 3, 1940 in Abilene; they were married for sixty-four years. Allene worked for AISD as a food manager for eighteen years at Crockett Elementary. She would always say “My only two hobbies in this life were cooking, and doing things for other people”. She was known by numerous names, Mom, Aunt Sissy, Grandmother, Me Ma, and Allene. She was loved by everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, three brothers and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Scott. She is survived by two children, Millie Brockman and husband Larry of Levelland, Texas and Norman Scott of Arlington, Texas. Three grandchildren, Chris Scott of Conroe, Texas, Missy and Shannon Himango of Lubbock, Texas, and Kent and Marlo Etchison of Wolfforth, Texas, Five great-grandchildren; Morgan and Peyton Himango of Lubbock, Texas, Keeley, Gage, and Blake Etchison of Wolfforth, Texas. One brother; Joe Vinson of Casper, Wyoming. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Gin Vinson and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be, Kent Etchison, Shannon Himango, Tom McColloch, Steve McCulloch, Ronnie Vinson, Dean Glover, Greg Willingham, Pete Zips and J.R. Willingham.
