Velma Lorene Culbertson 99, formerly of Abilene, passed away September 21, 2016. Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24 in the Fellowship Baptist Church in Goldthwaite, Texas, with Rev. Julann Godbey officiating. Burial to follow in Goldthwaite Cemetery, under the direction of North’s Funeral Home, 242 Orange St. Ms. Culbertson was born April 27, 1917 in Mills County to John and Hattie (Johnson) Seabourn. She married Edwin Culbertson April 21, 1935 in Kilgore, Texas. She held memberships in First Baptist Church of Eastland, Texas, Southwest Park Baptist Church of Abilene and Memorial Baptist Church of Corsicana. Velma Culbertson was a faithful servant of God her entire life and always put others’ needs before her own. She worked most of her adult life as a licensed vocational nurse in two doctors’ offices; the office of Dr. Irby Fox of Abilene and Dr. Blair of Houston. She cared for babies and little children in churches in her youth. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Six siblings, Willie Mae Fulmer, Vivian Worley, Oleta Hindman, Frances Sands, Barney Seabourn and Donald Seabourn. She is survived by one daughter, Kay Blewster and husband John of Corsicana, Texas.
