Laverne A. Rainey, 87, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She was born on July 4, 1929 to parents Oren Rodney and Lucille Kerr Amy. Mrs. Rainey is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Milburn Amy Sr., and her husband Ralph R. Rainey. Laverne leaves behind her daughters Janet R. Kidd and Terri Lynn Rainey; son Randil Craig Rainey and wife Deborah; grandchildren Cheryl Walker and husband Rufus, Michelle Walker, Tracey Wyatt and husband David, Tiffany Harwell and husband Daniel, and Brian Walker and wife Tracey; great-grandchildren Sarah Rojas and husband Mario, Rachael Heyart, Keith Flores, Tristan Silvas, Alyssa Zwiener, Noble Wyatt, Haleigh Zwiener, Sage Curry, Savannah Wyatt, Nathan Zwiener, Brian Walker Jr., and Colton Putney; and great-great-grandson Tyler Hernandez. After retiring as a legal secretary, Laverne enjoyed a love of gospel music, playing her harmonica, and camping with her grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Colonial Oaks Assisted Living facility for their caring support for the 12 years while she was under their care.
