DOROTHY MAE RAYBURN, 93, of Arthur City, died Sunday May 4, 2008 at Legend Healthcare Center. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct funeral services at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 7, 2008 at the Arthur City Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cemetery.

The body will lie in repose at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Rayburn was born September 19, 1914 in Powderly, a daughter of William and Janie Ledford Spalding. She attended Lamar County schools and was a member of the Arthur City Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.

She married J.D. Rayburn on May 15, 1933 in Lamar County. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1998.

Survivors include a son, Bob Davis Rayburn and wife Glenda, of Arthur City; a daughter, Judy Mae Shawhart and husband Johnny, of Powderly; four grandchildren, Paula Martin, Brenda Hale, Kenny Shawhart and Belinda Lawson ; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Upchurch, Jade Upchurch and Amanda Lawson; two sisters, Gladys Gordon, of Arthur City and Joy Fletcher, of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her step-mother, Joycie Spaulding; two brothers, Bob and William Spalding; and by three sisters, Jewel Matthews, Fay Hervey and Opal Ruthart.
