A celebration of life for Laverne Harris Byler is scheduled for 3:00 pm, Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point, with Rev. David Musslewhite officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery. Laverne passed away on February 9, 2010, in Tyler. Ethel Laverne Mason was born October 31, 1931, in Kirbyville, TX, to Dick and Ethel Rice Mason, one of eleven children. She grew up and attended school in the Hemphill area. She later moved to Dallas where she worked as a dog groomer for Buttons & Bows Grooming. She has lived in Wills Point for the past thirty years and did some part time grooming from her home. On December 9, 2006, Laverne married Carl Byler. She was past Worthy Matron and member of Order of the Eastern Star, Wills Point Chapter #366, and a member of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point. Laverne is preceded in death by her parents and four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her husband, Carl Byler of Wills Point; children, Marsha West Osborn and husband, Gary of Wills Point and Harold Corwyn Beasley and wife, Lisa of Lindale; grandchildren, Lisa and Joe Garbe of Arlington, Cyndi and Matt King of Forney, Chris and Timothy Beasley of Lindale, John Osborn of Conway, AR and Matt and Beth Osborn of Eureka, KS; brother Valton Mason of Point; sister, Hazel of Madisonville; eleven great-grandchildren; and also very passionate about her little white Schnauzer, Jake, whom she considered one of the family. Family visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening.
