BENNINGTON Gregory James Coyne, 70, a former resident of Bennington died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at his home in New Castle, Colorado. Born in Bennington on November 19, 1946, he was the tenth of eleven children born to the late William and Eleanor (Mathers) Coyne. Greg received his education in Bennington and was employed for 18 years at Beaudoin Blacktopping in Bennington. An avid outdoorsman, Greg enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served for several years with the Vermont Army National Guard. After moving to Colorado he was employed by Nelson Auto Body in New Castle for twenty years prior to his retirement. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Gilleran and Stacy Coyne and a grandson, Trevor Gilleran, all of Steubenville, Ohio; two sisters, Cathy Brown of Randlett Oklahoma and Helena Powell of Amarillo, Texas; three brothers, Edward (June) Coyne and Ralph Coyne, both of Bennington and Thomas Coyne of Shaftsbury; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside committal services will take place at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Local funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
